Nathan McLeland began representing residents of Ward III on the Gillette City Council in 2018 and he
continues in that role today.
Nathan is a Gillette native and he, and his amazing wife, Robbie, are the parents of four exceptional
children. Growing up, Nathan spent many days and nights with his father and grandfather in the oil
fields of Northeast Wyoming, learning the oil business. Nathan graduated from Campbell County High
school in 1995. He continued his education at the University of Wyoming, where he studied political
science and competed in cross country and track. In 2000, Nathan graduated from the University of
Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in political science. He began attending the University of Wyoming
College of law in the Fall of 2000 and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2003.
Nathan began practicing law in Gillette in the Fall of 2003 at the firm of Lubnau, Bailey & Dumbrill, P.C.
He continued working in private practice until 2007, when he transitioned to M & K Oil Company, the oil
and gas production company his father and grandfather began in 1974. He worked as general counsel
until 2016 when he assumed the CEO role. Between 2016 and today, M & K Oil Company tripled in size.
Today, it operates over 900 oil and gas wells and employs over 60 people. Nathan understands the value
of assembling an effective team and working together to accomplish a common goal. He understands
the need to adapt and be resilient when presented with a challenge.
Nathan also has a long history of public service. In addition to his service on the Gillette City Council, he
has served on the Juvenile and Family Drug Court Board, the Gillette College Advisory Board, and the
Campbell County Public Land Board. He also currently serves on the Campbell County Joint Powers Fire
Board, the Gillette College Foundation Board, and the Board of Directors for the National Stripper Well
Association.
